A MetaFilter thread discussing an essay entitled "Viewing American Class Divisions Through MySpace and Facebook" leads to this interesting nugget:
Toronto has the most Facebook members of any city in the world (that's absolute "most", not even per capita. This means TO outranks much larger cities including New York, Chicago and Los Angeles. Canada has a pretty strong showing in the Top Ten overall as well - Vancouver is #5 and Calgary is #7 and Montreal is #9.

I should point out that if you read Danah Boyd's article it is full of problems. The categories are sloppy and misguided, the research is suspect, and the theoretical underpinnings are slapdash and ad-hoc. I am working on writing up a personal review on the ol' blog (http://www.iqdupont.com/blog/), but it ain't yet complete.

Yeah, I should've mentioned that. The MF thread is full of criticisms of the article as well and whether this is just her struggling with a sensitive topic or shoddy scholarship.
